Yes. The 11th EAPC World Research Congress will take place from 7th to 9th October 2020. In order to ensure no further postponements, the congress will now take place in purpose-built online Congress Centre accessible to all delegates from wherever they live across the globe.  We know that many of you had very different plans for 14-16th May when we were expecting to see you in person at the 11th World Research Congress in beautiful Palermo, Italy. We are acutely aware that due to the impact of the coronavirus many of our members and colleagues are working in challenging circumstances and we want to wish you all well.

Providing the congress online using a purpose-built online Congress Centre will ensure no further postponements to the congress. Speakers and abstract authors will be able to share and debate their research findings with other researchers, academics, clinicians and other key colleagues in a timely manner to maximise the impact of their work and inform further research.

The trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic is still unknown. It is unclear when it will be safe and appropriate for in-person congresses to be held.

EAPC is developing a purpose-built online Congress centre with all the same content that you expect from an EAPC Research Congress provided to you from the comfort of your web-enabled device.
All of our invited speakers have been asked to pre-record their presentations which will remain available to view for the duration of the virtual congress. They will be able to answer any queries in a Q

All of the invited speakers, oral abstract presenters and accepted poster abstract submitters have been invited to share their research at the rescheduled event. In addition we will be putting out a call for late breaking abstracts related to the palliative care response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the summer. Further details will follow.

If your accommodation was booked via the EAPC congress website you need to contact the congress organiser BIBA who will help you with the refund process. Contact: meeting@bibagroup.it

We recommend that you contact your travel agent or booking site for individual advice. Chartered flights are likely to be cancelled to Italy during the month of May and many airlines are contacting customers regarding their refund processes.

We hope you will understand, but in these unprecedented times the EAPC is unfortunately not in a financial position to offer full refunds to all of our delegates. In addition to a large initial non-refundable financial outlay in Palermo, we also have new costs for providing the congress on an online platform. The costs in Palermo have posed a threat to the future sustainability of the EAPC. Thank you for your understanding.

Everyone who has paid their registration fee for the congress will receive a €100 discount voucher towards registration for either the 2021 or 2022 EAPC congress.  This  voucher will be contained within a ‘Virtual Goodie Bag’ together with some other fantastic offers and vouchers provided by our sponsors. If you have any queries regarding refunds and registration please contact Alice.Gallivanone@istitutotumori.mi.it
